ABOUT
The Darke County Planning & Zoning Department administers Zoning for 9 of the 20 townships in the County which include: Adams, Brown, Butler, Harrison, Jackson Liberty, Neave, Wabash and Wayne as well as zoning administration for the Village of Wayne Lakes. Zoning serves to protect the use of the land to manage community growth and preserve property values. Darke County requires a Zoning Permit to be in place prior to a State Building Permit being issued for building construction or alterations.
TOWNSHIPS
The Townships of Franklin, Greenville, Monroe, Twin and Van Buren administer their own zoning as do many of the Villages within the County and the City of Greenville.
Allen, Mississinawa, Patterson, Richland, Washington, and York Townships are unzoned, so the Township Trustees provide approvals as needed to obtain Building Permits, approve building sites, etc.
FLOODPLAIN COORDINATOR
The Planning & Zoning Office also serves as the Darke County Floodplain Coordinator as well as administers the Darke County Subdivision Regulations for all of the unincorporated areas within the County.
LAND SPLIT
The Planning section of the Office assists the Darke County Planning Commission in the approval of land splits in which 20 acres or less is being split off of an existing parcel and/or if 20 acres or less remains after a land split occurs. See the planning link below for the process to complete a land split.

MONTHLY MEETINGS
